Other degeneration models

We offer different cell culture systems inducing apoptotic and/or necrotic cell death e.g. by increasing oxidative stress or changing calcium influx. These models are valid tools to investigate the potential of compounds to counteract neuronal impairment due to various reasons.

Embryonic neuronal cultures are lesioned with the agents below or subjected to specific treatments:

• H2O2
• Ionomycin
• Iodoacetate
  
• Staurosporin
• Tunicamycin
• Iron lesion (FeCl2, Fe/NTA)‏
• Sodium cyanide
• Growth factor withdrawal

Cultures are analysed for cell survival, apoptosis and necrosis specific markers (see Analyses of culture models).
