Parkinson's Disease tissue culture models

According to current understanding the majority of neuronal disfunction and loss in case of PD are directly or indirectly caused by mitochondrial impairment. JSW Life Sciences provides different cell culture models for Parkinson's Disease using various mitochondria specific toxins inducing cell death.

Embryonic neuronal cultures are treated with agents that induce lesions mimicking Parkinson's Disease:

  • BSO (Buthionine sulfoximine)
  • Iron
  • MPP+
  • Rotenone

Cultures are analysed for cell survival, apoptotic and necrotic phenotypes and mitochondria specific markers (see Analyses of culture models).
